Vietnam, a country already renowned for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage, is set to further enhance its appeal to luxury travellers with the introduction of several high-end resorts and hotels in the coming years. These new developments reflect the growing demand for luxury accommodations in the region, catering to both international and domestic travellers seeking unique and opulent experiences.

Oriental Traveller recently documented the InterContinental Saigon's reflag to JW Marriott, highlighting it as the fifth Marriott property in the city. Following this major takeover, Marriott International has three more exciting projects set to elevate Vietnam's luxury hospitality landscape even further.

Marriott International has announced significant expansions in Vietnam, highlighting the country as a burgeoning market for luxury travel. The company recently signed agreements to open three new luxury resorts, marking the debut of two prestigious brands—Ritz-Carlton Reserve and The Luxury Collection—on the tropical paradise of Hon Thom Island in Phu Quoc. Additionally, Vietnam's third JW Marriott Hotel is set to open in Trang An, a serene UNESCO World Heritage destination in northern Vietnam.

JW Marriott Trang An Resort & Spa :

Slated to open in 2028, this resort will offer 150 spacious rooms and suites, complemented by 35 private villas, some featuring private pools. The resort will provide a range of dining options, leisure facilities, and event spaces, all nestled amid lush wetlands and verdant hills.

Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Hon Thom Island :

Anticipated for 2028, this exclusive resort will feature 40 pool villas, designed by the renowned Bill Bensley. With its private setting and luxurious amenities, the resort will offer a truly immersive experience, including Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment educational program.

The Luxury Collection Resort, Hon Thom Island :

Expected to open in 2029, this resort will boast 305 rooms and suites, along with a variety of dining venues, a spa, and extensive event spaces. The resort aims to provide an authentic connection to the local culture and environment.

The Ritz-Carlton Saigon :

Not all luxury developments in Vietnam have proceeded successfully. One such project is the luxury category brand in Ho Chi Minh City. Saigon was supposed to receive a Ritz-Carlton hotel, which was expected to be a landmark addition to the city’s luxury hospitality scene. The Ritz-Carlton, Saigon, planned as a centerpiece of a mixed-use development, was eagerly anticipated. However, the project came to an abrupt halt when the key investor encountered legal and financial difficulties, including being jailed. This led to the indefinite suspension of the project, leaving Saigon without this prestigious luxury property. This incident highlights the challenges and complexities involved in developing high-profile luxury projects in rapidly evolving markets like Vietnam.

As Vietnam's economy grows and tourism flourishes, the demand for luxury accommodations is on the rise. The introduction of prestigious hotel brands and the expansion of existing ones solidify Vietnam's status as a premier destination for luxury travel in Southeast Asia. Whether seeking a serene island retreat or a lavish city stay, Vietnam's new luxury hotels and resorts will cater to every traveler’s desire for elegance, culture, and natural beauty.
